Tourism in brasil

Brazil is the largest country in South America. It covers almost half of the area of the South American continent. Bordered on the east and north by the Atlantic Ocean, its neighbors to the north, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana. To the west, it is Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia and Peru to the northwest, Colombia and South, Uruguay. It has an area of 8,511,966 km2.
The capital is Brasilia, but the most important cities are Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.

The relief of the country is dominated by the Brazilian plateau, a vast area of highlands and the Amazon River basin. Senior eroded plateaus occupy most of the southern half of Brazil. With an average altitude of 305-915 m, they are interspersed with mountain ranges and many valleys.

Among the major chains in the Brazilian plateau shown including Mantiqueira, Serra do Mar or Serra Geral. Their average altitude is less than 1,200 m, but several peaks reaching higher altitudes. This is the case of Mount Bandeira, in the Serra da Mantiqueira which reaches 2890 m or the Pedra Açu to 2232 m in the Serra do Mar. The vegetation in these highlands consists essentially of savanna called campos.

To the north, the Amazon basin occupies more than a third of the country. In the lower area the river irrigates a vast marshy plain covered with virgin forests called selvas.

North of the Amazon is another mountainous region that is part of the massif of the Guianas. Low altitude, this region includes the Serra Tumucumaque which rises to 900 meters, the Serra Acaraí with a maximum elevation of about 460 m and the Serra Parima which amounts to nearly 1500 m. It is in this region, on the Venezuelan border, lies the Neblina Peak, highest point in Brazil with 3,014 m.

Over two-thirds of Brazil is drained by the rivers Amazon and Tocantins. The Río de la Plata and its tributaries also irrigate a fifth of the country and the rest of the São Francisco River and smaller rivers. The assembly formed by the Amazon and its immense ramifications (the Negro, the Japurá, Putumayo, in the north, Javari, the Purus, the Jurua, the Madeira, Tapajós the south) and the Tocantins is a river navigation system comparable only to that formed by the Mississippi in the United States. From its source in Iquitos, Peru, to its mouth on the northeast coast of Brazil, the Amazon is along 6,280 kilometers. It navigable 3700 miles a cargo of high seas. Due to its vastness, Brazil has a variety of climates, from tropical to sub-temperate weather.

Although cropland represented only 62 million hectares, or less than 7.5% of the total area of the country, Brazil is a major agricultural power. Thanks to the Amazon rainforest that covers nearly 5.7 million km2, it has immense timber resources. It also has many mineral wealth including quartz, diamond, chromium, carbon, manganese, oil, titanium, gold, bauxite, zinc, mercury, iron ore, mica , tin or phosphate.

Brazil's population is estimated at 160 million people. Nearly 75% of the Brazilian population is urban.
Whites of European origin make up about 55% of the population. Other major ethnic groups are the European mulattos and black origin (22%), Métis European and Native American (12%) and blacks (11%). Native Americans constitute only 0.1% of the population.

Brazil has 26 federated states plus the Federal District of Brasilia. The states are divided into five administrative regions: North (Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Pará, Randônia, Roraima, Tocantins), the Northeast (Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte, Sergipe ), the Southeastern Region (Espirito Santo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo), the South (Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina) and the Central West to which is attached the Federal District of Brasília (Goiás, Mato Grosso Mato Grosso do Sul). Formerly located in Rio de Janeiro, the capital was transferred in 1960 to the new city of Brasilia, built to rebalance the country for the benefit of the interior.

The largest city is Sao Paulo (10 million inhabitants). Other major cities are Rio de Janeiro (6 million), Porto Alegre, Salvador, Belém, Recife, Curitiba, Belo Horizonte, Fortaleza and Manaus.

The official language is Portuguese. However, many Brazilians speak another language, because of their origins, such as German or Italian, especially in the cities of the South.

Brazil is probably the best footballing nation on the planet with stars like Ronaldo and Ronaldinho. Many consider football as a religion whose main temple is monumental Maracana stadium. The Brazilian team won the World Cup 5 times in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002, the country hosted the World Cup in 1950.
